I bought my first computer just three years ago, and I still don't completely know how to operate it. I really just got it to do this column every month and send and receive e-mail. I'll hopefully learn more about its functions, because being computer savvy has become imperative. More and more of my clients have started using the Internet to view the portfolios of models, photographers, stylists, hairstylists, and makeup artists online. It makes perfect sense for many reasons. I think the number-one reason is obvious: It's quick and easy.

Most agencies also have websites now. They typically only post a few images of each artist's work. This has made me uncomfortable. I think it's important to show the range of your talent, and you can't do that with just a few images. I know the point is to just give the client "the general idea," so that they will actually request the full portfolio. But it only takes one single image to sway the opinion of a potential client in the wrong direction. I'd rather have myself represented with a more comprehensive selection.

That's why I decided to have my own website. It's been in the making for a while and has constantly been updated. I still plan to revise and renew things every few months, but the site is finally at a point where I feel confident enough to have clients and all of you see it. I was incredibly lucky to have an amazingly talented friend named Oscar Henriquez build it for me. He is a brilliant website designer, and working with him was a pleasure. When I first saw the site, I couldn't believe it was mine! I love the look of it, and obviously it's so important that the design is modern looking and easy to navigate.

Creating my website was one of the best business decisions I've ever made, and I'm very proud of it.
