I don't believe in New Year's resolutions. For me, a resolution would just cause me to procrastinate about making changes in the present. Don't wait for an "event" to move forward. The chances we take are all relative, depending on our situation. For some, it's a lot scarier than for others. For Beyoncé Knowles, Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams of Destiny's Child, change came naturally. Big things happened for each memeber of the singing trio this past year. Beyoncé starred with Mike Myers in the movie Austin Powers in Goldmember. It was a huge box-office success, making her a bonafide movie star. Her next film costars Cuba Gooding Jr. She's also gained recognition with her L'Oreal contract that has utilized her stunning beauty to sell makeup, hair and nail products. Michelle embarked on a solo gospel album Heart to Yours, which debuted at number two on Billboard's Gospel Chart. Kelly has just finished her first film and has released her own critically acclaimed solo album Simply Deep, which climbed to number 12 on the Billboard 200 Chart. After Destiny's Child's phenomenal success as a group, they all could have played it safe and not pursued independent projects, they they didn't. They pushed themselves and took chances, risking high-profile failure. All three women are working on their independent projects while still performing collectively as Destiny's Child. I have had the pleasure of working with Beyoncé on the press junket for Austin Powers in Goldmember and with Kelly on her new video "Stole" and the video for her smash hit with Nelly "Dilemma." We also recently did The Tonight Show with Jay Leno. Kelly's look for her solo project needed to be different than her glamourous image with Destiny's Child. I have been doing a much more natural look. She has beautiful skin, so for "Stole" and Leno, I used a sheer foundation with a translucent powder, trading full-band false lashes for individual lashes and just a sheer blush and clear lipgloss. Her look is modern and young and appropriate for her individual, personal, and musical styles. That's just more proof that change is good any time of year. |
